Plus Size Fashion : Scarlet & Jo (Evans) Part II

I'm doing a little update, because I had to return all my Scarlett & Jo purchases (because some didn't suit me, and because they were all too big)
I did receive some comments about the sizing from Gifi Fields on my last post. The guidance on the Evans website did indicate that using my measurements (42-37.5-48) I should choose an 18, but I'm clearly not an S&J 18. My boobs are apparently bigger than I thought they were (38DD) but not big enough to fill an S&J size 18 dress.
He did explain that the sizing is graded down from a 24 (for standard size clothing, they tend to grade 'up' from smaller sizes) and this probably accounts for the generosity.

I just got my fan dress back in a 16, and I'm happy to say its perfect. I just needed the right size. (actually I need the right underwear too which is not what I've got on here) I could wear this to work, but I could wear it on an evening out as well with the right accessories. Probably not leggings like I'm wearing here...

I also wanted to show you one of my most favourite dresses, which I bought from Dotty Ps a couple of years back. This is a Blossom & Billie dress (Gifi Fields also collaborated on that collection) and whilst I don't normally wear tight dresses, this one is an exception. I love this dress so much. Slippers really don't show it off!
Does that pattern look familiar?!!

In which I attend a most fabulous vintage tea and crafting event...

Had a completely lovely time yesterday, at https://www.facebook.com/PolkaDotRockEvents vintage tea and craft party.

We had our hair done - this is Nic getting a hairover. What a doll!

We were treated to lashing of ginger beer, lemonade, tea and coffee in cute little jars, cakes galore, dainty little ham, cucumber, egg and cheese&tomato sandwiches, scones with jam and cream...

This is Anna, fresh from a fun run (who went straight from pompom wielding jogging cheerleader to vintage vixen!)

 More tea darling?

On the back burner

I have two patterns I'm supposed to be tackling at the moment.Again both modern forties style - I love that look.

The first is New Look 6089 (the option which is shown in green)

I wanted to do this in plain black, and came across just the right amount in the Cath Kidston outlet which is over the road from where I work (its that, Tesco or B&Q for my lunchtime shopping excursions) which was on offer for a tenner. 'Meant to be', I thought. And bought.

The fabric itself was a mistake, but having not sewed with it before I didn't realise until I started. Its really slippy - some sort of silky stuff - and stretches all over the place. The gathers that were supposed to be on the front of the bodice at bra strap height have disappeared. It makes me look like Mr Puffy on a bad day. So I havent got the sleeves on yet and I'm considering scrapping it and trying to rescue the fabric.

I also think I may try this again, but in black jersey, possibly with a pattern but I'm not sure.

Because I'm now preoccupied with my green swing dress, however, it will have to wait.

6069

The other dress I want to do is this one. New Look 6183. Its not so dissimilar to 6089 - its that version in yellow that I'm after - some sort of small floral print I expect (actually I really like that yellow). I like the neckline on it.
